Operation School Bell®

Operation School Bell® provides new school uniforms, socks, personal care items, belts, hats and an age-appropriate book to students in St. Louis area elementary schools. Operation School Bell also supports closets to provide year-round clothing, shoes, coats and other necessities.

Helping Students in the Classroom

Clean, new, well-fitting school clothing helps create positive outcomes for students and their learning. Items are distributed in multiple ways.

  • Until recently, Assistance League volunteers fit students and distributed items at our Headquarters. During 2020-21, parents fit students, and volunteers make curbside deliveries to 30 schools throughout the region.
  • Each student receives 2 pairs of pants, 2 short-sleeve and 1 long-sleeve shirt, 1 fleece jacket, 6 pair of socks, 6 pair of underwear, a toothbrush, toothpaste, a hat and gloves, a belt and a new book.
  • Assistance League “closets” in Saint Louis Public schools are stocked with new school uniforms, shoes, coats, underwear, socks, hats, gloves and toiletry items to meet students’ ongoing needs.

Schools interested in participating may submit an application form.
