What We Do

Make a difference

Our member volunteers manage a variety of programs to benefit underserved populations in the St. Louis metropolitan region.  Each program has a unique delivery model and focus, from new school uniforms to shoes and socks, and from personal care items for crisis shelter clients to teddy bears for comfort.

Fantastic Finds named A list by St Louis Magazine St. Louis Magazine has announced its annual A-List. This is the magazine’s tribute to the region’s finest as determined by readers who weigh in by nominating their favorites and then voting on the nominees. The magazine tallied the votes, and ALSL’s lovely, upscale resale shop Fantastic Finds has been awarded the St. Louis Magazine Reader's Choice Finalist for the A-List for furniture/home accessories resale store!  Thanks to all the hard work of members who support the shop and the nine philanthropic programs the shop’s revenues help fund.

A Magical Mystery Tea

2019 04 13 authors brunch two lovely ladies in black and whiteOn Saturday, April 13, Mr. Charles Finch, internationally acclaimed author of 12 murder mystery books set in the Victorian/Edwardian era, captivated a sold-out audience of 400 with his many tales of life in mid-19th century England.  

Held at the beautiful Atrium of Edward Jones in Des Peres this 14th annual Authors Brunch event sponsored by Assistance League of St. Louis featured A Magical Mystery Tea that recreated the atmosphere of that timeframe. 

Guests were treated to a typical English tea complete with scones, dainty finger sandwiches and fancy pastries in beautiful table settings, which included Victorian teapot-centerpieces.  Many guests wore veiled hats and bustled gowns adding to the overall Victorian aura.
